The Three Keys
- Choose the right club, most likely a pitching wedge, sand wedge or lob wedge, depending on your lie and shot situation
- Play the ball forward for more height and open your stance
- Pick a spot where you want the ball to land and visualize the shot before you hit it
The Three Stroke-Saving Tips
- Double-check your grip pressure as you must hold the club lightly to increase your feel and allow your wrists to hinge on your backswing
- Tempo is important, don't rush the change of direction from your backswing to downswing and almost fell as though the club is just dropping itself
- Make sure you complete your follow through, approximately the same distance as your backswing for a regular pitch shot. Most players decelerate and end up chunking the ball.
